Our story began humbly. What started with Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur services in a boardroom at Summer Place grew into weekly Shabbos services in a garage, and ultimately into a thriving Shul and community founded by Rabbi Mendel and Mashi Lipskar.

From Summer Place we moved to Empire Place, then, during the covid years, to a marquee in Levi and Leah’s garden. Eventually, through an extraordinary effort led by Hilary Bentel together with Levi Lipskar and the generosity of our community, we were blessed to purchase 54 Bompas Road.

Different buildings. Different chapters. But always the same heart.

Through it all, Chabad Hyde Park became a place where people came to learn, to celebrate Bar and Bat Mitzvahs and Simchas, to bring their children, to seek guidance and support, to make friends and to discover a deeper connection to Yiddishkeit.

And now, we are building for everything that comes next.

A Campus Built for the Future

Rising at 54 Bompas Road is a magnificent new campus designed not simply for the community we are today, but for the community we are becoming.

At its heart will be a beautiful, purpose-built Shul, a sacred space filled with Tefillah, Torah and the warmth that has always defined Chabad Hyde Park.

Alongside it will be a state-of-the-art Brocha Room and commercial kitchen, creating a magnificent setting for communal Kiddushim, dinners, celebrations andn Simchas.

Our children will have spaces designed especially for them: a beautiful baby playroom, a dedicated toddler playground, an exciting older children’s playground, and an AstroTurf soccer court, giving our children a place where they can learn, play, form friendships and grow up feeling that Chabad is truly their home.

Our teenagers will have their own teen lounge, a space to connect, learn, relax and develop their own relationship with their community and their Yiddishkeit.

There will be a library and dedicated learning spaces for Shiurim and Torah study, together with offices and facilities from which our rabbinical team can teach, counsel, support and serve our growing community.

Every part of the campus has been imagined with a purpose.

A Shul may be a place you come to Daven. But Chabad of Hyde Park is the place you come to live Jewishly. 

What excites us most is not simply what we are building today. It is what will happen here tomorrow.

We are building a campus with the space to dream bigger, reach further and welcome more.

After years of moving from one temporary home to another, we are finally approaching the moment we have dreamed about for so long.

The building is nearly complete.

Now, through our Our Eternal Home campaign, we need to raise the final R5 million to take us over the finish line and, please G-d, open the doors in time for Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur this year.

We began in a boardroom with a handful of people.

Today, we are building a home for generations.

A home for our children.

 A home for our community.

 A home for every Jew.

 A home filled with Torah, Mitzvos and Jewish life.

Our Eternal Home.

And, please G-d, a home that will accompany us to Yerushalayim with the coming of Moshiach, speedily in our days.
