Can You Keep the Doors Open?
To a Jewish home on campus - Full of shabbat, warmth and life.
Here for every Jewish student. Always.
About This Campaign
Right now, Jewish students in Birmingham are facing real challenges.
Some are being questioned for who they are. Others are navigating moments of isolation or uncertainty about their identity. University, a time meant to be exciting and formative, can for whatever reason sometimes feel heavy.
And yet, whatever they’re facing, there is one place they know will always welcome them.
Chabad.
Chabad is their home away from home. A place where the door is always open, where they are welcomed exactly as they are, and where they are never alone. A place where they can walk in on a Friday night, sit at a Shabbat table, and simply be Jewish; safely, proudly, joyfully. A warm, lively home full of life.
Chabad is not only a refuge in difficult moments. It is also a beacon of positivity, a hub of fun, friendship and Jewish identity.
This is also where students celebrate their birthdays, decompress after exams, debate ideas, volunteer, cook together, sing together, and build the kind of friendships that last long after university.
At Chabad:
We never cap our numbers.
We never say no.
We never charge students.
Every Shabbat, we prepare with open hearts, sometimes for 30 students, sometimes for 70, sometimes (usually!) adding another table, another tray of food, another seat for whoever walks through the door. Because every student matters. Every student deserves a place.
When incidents happen, the first call students make is to us.
When they’re struggling, they come for support and guidance.
When they want to learn, to ask, to grow, or to reconnect with their Judaism, they come to Chabad to explore, question and discover.
Chabad is not only a safety net it is a vibrant, joyful, life-affirming centre of Jewish student life in Birmingham.
We are here for them, always. Because we care deeply, because we believe in these students, and because we know how important it is that they always have a place that feels safe, steady, and like home.
And we can only exist in this way because of your support.
We receive no central funding. Every shabbat meal, every holiday celebration, every pastoral conversation, every late-night call, every open door is all made possible by people like you who believe in the importance of Jewish life on campus.
Please help us ensure that Chabad can continue to be completely free, completely open, and always there.
Here for them. Always. Because of you.
